the first uphill battle

After the first step, comes the first obstacle. If you compare the first 2 weeks of ISM to a wide, smooth, puddle-less, freshly paved highway, last week would be a narrow, rugged, puddle-full, uphill alleyway. There was more work to do, which meant more to learn.
We worked on our first major grade assignment which was to research any topic in relation to our ISM subject. Entrepreneurship is an expansive topic with many divisions and sectors that grow on a daily basis. An entrepreneur can be anyone, and because it is so broad and diverse, I had a difficult time finding a single article that interested me the most. After hours and hours of researching, I realized the one thing in common between every entrepreneur, is that they are a great leader. Hence, in order for me to be as successful as any of them, I needed to be a better leader. I looked through pages and pages of articles that claimed to be the best guide for an entreprenuer, and finally found the article that compelled me the most. "Why Should Anyone Be Led By You"- is a question that many CEOS and executives are unable to answer. However, it is an extremely important question to consider because it allows one to look back on what makes them a better leader to their teammates. The article discussed many ways one can be a better leader, but the one thing that inspired me the most was the idea of showing vulnerability and selective weaknesses. People are often misled that leaders should always be strong and insensitive to issues. Although, that is true to a certain extent, I learned that is also important to remain humble and relatable in order to persuade others.
In addition to working on the research assignment, I was also able to do research on finding questions I would like to ask my future mentor in an interview. This assignment was very helpful because it allowed me to look back on what exactly I wanted to learn from the ISM program. Futhermore, it also excited me for future interviews because there are some questions I am extremely curious to learn more about. In order to evaluate the strength of my questions, I made sure to write down my own responses to the questions. If I was unable to give myself a satisfying response, I kept them. If not, then I came up with a new question. This process works well because it allows me to jot down questions that are new allow me to further expand my knowledge regarding entrepreneurship.
Overall, although this week was hectic at times. I was able to learn more about entrenpreneurship which makes the uphill walk that much more worth it.
