The first step...

The first step. It is always so nervewracking to take the first step to do anything, and it is especially terrifying to take the very first step into your own future. Every child dreams about their career and usually it is a magical experience filled with hopes, fantasies, and ambition. However, the closer you get to high school, the fiercer the shadow of doubt about whether you will succeed, grows. I would know, I experienced it. That's why I appreciate the ISM program so much because it allows students to take their future one step a time. How ever scary that first step is, students can trust that they have a safety net to fall back on which allows them to spread their wings and explore the world, and find a career that they truly want to pursue.

When I first entered room W204, I knew I was passionate about technology, and how influential it is to our way of life, and I had gained an interest for computer science ever since I took a course in 10th grade. However, I was unsure if I wanted to be a programmer because in my heart I knew wanted to solve problems, help people and positively impact the world-if you will. After many conversations with Coach Goff, my dad, and my self, I realized I wanted to be an entrepreneur. In Entrepreneurship I can be my most creative self while solving problems as well as exploring the ways technology can guide the world to be a better place for all of us.

In ISM, I am excited to experience the life of a real entrepreneur who brings their ideas to life, every day and changes the world in the most beautiful way. I am inspired to succeed, and take this first step into my future.
