A Pleasant Presentation

After falling sick due to getting my booster shot, I was nervous about presenting since I was unable to prepare over the weekend as I had originally intended. However, Coach Goff allowed me extra time to prepare, so I felt more confident. Therefore, over the next two nights, I consistently practiced my speech, wrote down exactly what I wanted to say on notecards, and even showed it to my parents.

The first step to prepping for my speech was making sure I had all the information I wanted to share on my presentation. This required me to go back through all my research interview assessments, notes from meetings, annotations of research articles, and research assessments. Then I compiled the most interesting and intriguing information I had learned into bullet points. Because I was unhappy with my original presentation, I made many changes. Then I started redoing my script to better match my presentation. I first typed it on a google doc, and rehearsed it multiple times. In order to better memorize it, I also tried to write my speech my memory on index cards. This allowed me to better grasp exactly what I wanted to say, and focus on my body language during the speech.

I think I did well during my presentation. However, in the future I would like to work on my eye-contact and speak louder in order to engage my audience more.
